Active combat operations have been ongoing for more than 10 directions along the front line within the past 24 hours. Russian forces are attempting to break through the defenses, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are giving a determined response, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time, Russian forces continue to assault the positions of Ukrainian defenders. Since the beginning of the day, 84 combat clashes have been recorded.

Border settlements in the Sumy region — Myropilske, Shevchenkove Pershe, Prokhody, Novodmytrivka, Mariine, Starykove, Dmytrivka, Oleksandrivka, Uhroidy, Stepok, and Chuikivka — have been affected by shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Situation by directions

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy tried to break through the defensive lines near Vovchansk but was repelled.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made three attempts to advance near Kolisnykivka and Zahryzove but was stopped by our defenders.

In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked six times near the settlements of Nove, Novomykhailivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and towards Hryhorivka; three clashes are ongoing.

Our defenders repelled one attack by enemy units in the Kramatorsk direction near Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked nine times near Ozarianivka, Krymske, Druzhba, and Toretsk; two clashes are currently ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, the Russian army attempted 25 times to push our defenders from their positions near Shevchenko Pershe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have repelled 21 attacks; four clashes continue. Enemy losses are being clarified. An airstrike hit Dovha Balka.

Today, in the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attacked 13 times near Novopil, Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr, Vesele, and Burlatske; one clash is still ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, the area near Zaliznychne was hit by unguided rockets.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces tried to advance three times near Stepove and towards Novodanylivka but were stopped by Ukrainian units.

The enemy made an unsuccessful attack attempt in the Prydniprovskyi direction.

In the Kursk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 19 attacks by Russian invaders during the day; three clashes continue.

The enemy carried out three airstrikes, dropping five guided bombs (KAB), and conducted 160 attacks, including nine using multiple rocket launch systems.

In the Huliaipole and Siversk directions, the enemy did not conduct active offensive actions.

"In other directions of the front, the situation has not undergone significant changes," the General Staff noted.

Russian losses in the war

Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has lost more than 978,000 soldiers. Just in the past day, Russian losses exceeded one thousand personnel. At the same time, the Defense Forces destroyed:

  • two tanks;

  • one infantry fighting vehicle;

  • 43 artillery systems and more.

It is worth noting that RBC-Ukraine reported that on May 22, there were 141 clashes on the front lines.
